The King of Fighters 97 Emulator gives users the ability to play video games from eleven different classic consoles. Don't be fooled by the name either. People might come to the emulator under the assumption that it specializes in the King of Fighters franchise. Or that it might only play The King of Fighters 97. And it is true that the emulator does a great job playing both the Playstation and PSP ports of The King of Fighters 97. But those two games are only scratching the surface of what The King of Fighters 97 emulator can really do.

The King of Fighters 97 Emulator gives you the ability to play games from a wide variety of different systems. These systems include both the PlayStation and PlayStation portable. It also plays games from the SNES, NES, Gameboy Advance, DS, Gameboy Color, Wonderswan, Turbographix-16, and Genesis. This also includes different variants of the systems. For example, the Wonderswan emulation covers both monochrome and color games.

However, there is a catch to all of that power. The program does a great job of integrating all of those platforms into a singular whole. But consider just how different some of them are from each other. A portable handheld system, for example, is quite different from a 3D-enabled console with optical drive support. Likewise, an 8-bit system is very different from a 32-bit device.

Putting all of these consoles together into a single package often means simplifying things to the lowest common denominator. This means that The King of Fighters 97 Emulator often has fewer options than you might expect given its wide range of supported platforms.

At the same time the system's simplicity can be seen as a selling point. For example, the fact that it has fewer features means that it can offer an easy-to-use help system that goes into detail on every option which is present. All of this makes it a great emulator for people who are more interested in playing games than tweaking options.

However, that also leads to another downside for the app. Playing a game means actually having access to them. And The King of Fighters 97 Emulator doesn't offer any means to find, download or use games from one's own collection. The process of taking a physical console game and turning it into something usable with an emulator is often quite difficult. Even turning a CD game into a rom can be difficult. But cartridge-based games often require specialized equipment.

Some emulators get around the problem by automating rom downloads. Or they might point users to a website where they can find games. But The King of Fighters 97 Emulator just assumes users already have their games stored on their mobile device. However, once users learn to get around that problem the emulator provides a solid gaming experience.
